Bifosfonatos en oficina de farmacia

Abstract

Los bifosfonatos son un grupo de medicamentos ampliamente dispensados en las oficinas de farmacia. Se recetan, sobre todo, para tatar la osteoporosis postmenopáusica. Debido a que son medicamentos usados a largo plazo, en los últimos años se han detectado una serie de reacciones adversas importantes entre las que cabe destacar la necrosis maxilofacial, dolor músculoesquelético, fibrilación auricular y trastornos inflamatorios oculares. Además, son medicamentos que requieren unas pautas muy concretas de administración debido a interacciones, riesgo de esofagitis y su baja absorción. Los pacientes con osteoporosis son tratados también con complementos de calcio y vitamina D y, para mejorar su pronóstico, requieren unos hábitos de vida y alimentación correctos. Es por todo esto que desde la oficina de farmacia debemos conocer ampliamente los aspectos relacionados con el correcto tratamiento farmacológico y no farmacológico de estos pacientes.
