Psicología de la santidad femenina

Abstract

El objetivo de esta tesis es intentar demostrar que existe un perfil psicológico común de santidad femenina, modulada por los avatares históricos y culturales siendo la santidad, al menos en los últimos siglos, una virtud propia de la mujer. Si dicho objetivo se confirma y es considerado pertinente, interesa encuadrarlo, en el marco general de las alteraciones psiquiátricas de género. En definitiva, se ha intentado conocer mejor las conductas, muchas veces extraordinarias y otras atormentadas, de un grupo de mujeres cuyas biografías sedujeron sin duda a los jueces de la iglesia que las elevaron a la condición de santas. Para ello hemos analizado desde su nacimiento hasta su muerte, en lo que es posible, la vida de sesenta mujeres religiosas, a través de biografías y autobiografías ya se tratara de siervas, beatas o santas según la terminología eclesiástica.De este conjunto fue inevitable seleccionar doce casos, que son los que se exponen de manera exhaustiva en este estudio. Son los que disponen de un material biográfico más aprovechable y fiable, y son aquéllos en los que existe información directa de la propia santa o se enfrentan con biografías contrastadas y aliviadas de sus excesos panegíricos. Una vez extraídos los caracteres más relevantes, se han comparado estos datos entre todas ellas tratando de construir un modelo de santidad que posteriormente hemos enfrentado con los conocimientos psiquiátricos actuales, a la vez que hemos instalado estas biografías en su dimensión histórica.
