Abstract

La sintomatología miccional secundaria a la hiperplasia benigna de próstata (HBP) y la disfunción eréctil son dos entidades altamente prevalentes en varones a partir de los 50 años. Estas patologías tienen un impacto negativo sobre la calidad de vida del paciente. Se han realizado estudios que indican que los inhibidores de la PDE5i serían eficaces en el tratamiento del denominado Cuadro Sintomatológico del Tracto Urinario Inferior (LUTS). De hecho, estos fármacos pueden ser usados en terapia combinada con antagonistas adrenérgicos α1 indicados en HBP pero con pautas controladas ya que se podría originar una hipotensión ortostática como reacción adversa. Así, los PDE5i, mediante el bloqueo de la actividad dicha enzima, impiden el desdoblamiento del GMPc a GMP produciendo, en última instancia, la elevación de la concentración intracelular del GMPc ([GMPc]i y la consecuente relajación del músculo liso del Tracto Urinario Inferior, mejorando, en gran medida, la disfuncionalidad miccional característica de los pacientes con HBP.
