Abstract

El trasplante renal (TR) es el mejor tratamiento renal sustitutivo para los pacientes con enfermedad renal crónica (ERC). Sin embargo, esta terapia se ve limitada por la escasez de donantes. Este desequilibrio entre la oferta y la demanda es aún más notable en los pacientes situados en la franja de edad entre 20 y 40 años, dado que han disminuido el número de donantes en este rango de edad al descender el número de traumatismos craneoencefálicos. Precisamente es en este grupo de pacientes donde el trasplante renal ofrece más beneficios en cuanto a la supervivencia del receptor. Se han buscado otras fuentes de órganos alternativas a los donantes fallecidos en muerte encefálica (DME), potenciando la donación de vivo y resurgiendo el uso de los donantes fallecidos en asistolia (DA)...
