Abstract

Las patologías que afectan al segmento posterior del ojo se han visto incrementadas en las últimas décadas como consecuencia del envejecimiento de la población. Dentro de estas se encuentran el glaucoma, la retinosis pigmentaria y la neuropatía diabética. El glaucoma se considera la principal causa de ceguera irreversible en el mundo con 70 millones de personas afectadas por la enfermedad y 7 millones de ellas invidentes. Para su tratamiento se encuentra disponible un amplio arsenal terapéutico, sin embargo, debido a las características anatomo-fisiológicas del ojo no todas las terapias gozan de una suficiente eficacia...
