Abstract

El cartílago hialino es un tejido conjuntivo que tiene su origen en las células mesenquimales del mesodermo, capaces de diferenciar durante el desarrollo fetal bajo las condiciones adecuadas físicas y químicas a condrocitos. Estos condrocitos secretarán los productos que forman la matriz extracelular (MEC) y finalmente tras la maduración del tejido, observaremos un cartílago estructurado capaz de soportar cargas axiales y tangenciales y de lubrificar las articulaciones. La enfermedad del cartílago articular es motivo de consulta y discapacidad de pacientes de todas las edades y su prevalencia va en aumento debido al envejecimiento poblacional y al aumento de traumatismos y práctica deportiva. Se han probado numerosos tratamientos para regenerar el tejido, pero ninguno de ellos ha conseguido obtener un cartílago hialino articular con las mismas características mecánicas e histológicas. Nuestro trabajo genera un modelo de cultivo in vitro de células troncales mesenquimales (MSC) sometidas a estímulos de compresión y cizallamiento para obtener su diferenciación y caracterización de cartílago articular, explorando así desde el punto de vista de la ingeniería tisular un nuevo camino hacia la reparación del cartílago...
