Abstract

The objective of this research is to demonstrate the viability of “Design Thinking” as a collaborative and cooperative teachinglearning methodology in the formulation of architectural projects, optimizing design quality and improving teaching in Architecture. The study considers a new pedagogical perspective based on the interaction of new theories of active learning by applying Design Thinking in education. In this study, eighty students from the school of architecture of the Universidad Femenina del Sagrado Corazon participate. Data collection is done through observation and entry and exit survey applied to students of different academic levels. The assigned work topic is the remodeling of the public space of the main square of the city of Ayacucho in Peru applying Design Thinking. The results obtained, allow to compare the initial and final level of knowledge of each workshop, of which initially obtained a lack of knowledge of Design Thinking to end with extensive learning acquired in the proposed methodology applied to the architectural design, which validates the initial research objective.
