Abstract

L’insula delle Ierodule fu messa in luce per gran parte della sua estensione nel 1969-70 da M.L.Veloccia Rinaldi (che diede anche il nome all’edificio sulla base di una serie di figure femminili rappresentate nella decorazione pittorica). L’insula fa parte del complesso residenziale delle Case a Giardino, il cui impianto è da collegare ad un piano regolatore di età adrianea. Negli anni 2003 e 2004, nell’ambito di un progetto avviato dalla Facoltà di Lettere dell’Università “La Sapienza” di Roma in collaborazione con la Soprintendenza per Beni Archeologici di Ostia, sono state effettuate successive campagne di scavo con l’obiettivo lo studio del complesso per quanto concerne gli apparati pittorici e le evidenze monumentali. Nello specifico, Dininno si è occupata di studiare i rinvenimenti di un soffitto a fondo nero pertinenti al piano superiore dell’Insula delle Ierodule.
