HBIM procedures for the integration of sensor data

Abstract

The research group at the University of L'Aquila is engaged in activities aimed at integrating BIM models with data acquired from structural or environmental monitoring sensors as part of the University's projects aimed at digitising its whole building assets, also following the reconstruction and restoration activities after the 2009 earthquake. The research is combined with participation in national projects, such as the CTE SICURA project (funded by the MiSE) and PNRR-HPC Spoke 9, where different procedures dedicated to enriching HBIM models with new information, characterised by heterogeneity and variability over time, are being tested. In particular, the test carried out on the buildings of the Coppito Complex, which house different Departments (DISIM, DSFC, DISCAB) and are monitored with environmental sensors, provided an opportunity to evaluate the different procedures, comparing manual procedures, e.g. those based on shared parameters and additional modules, with semi-automatic solutions, implemented using visual programming (VPL), which led to the integration of HBIM models with data acquired by monitoring sensors.
