Abstract

Didymella bryonia è I'agente causale del "cancro gommoso", una delle principali fitopatie fuingine del melone e di altre cucurbitacee. La sintomatologia è rappresentata dalla presenza di aree necrotiche marcescenti su foglie, steli e frutti e da abbondanti essudati gommosi. Le varietà di melone attualmente in commercio risultano suscettibiIi al patogeno ed il reperimento di genotipi resistenti è problema attuale. La mancanza di informazioni sugli aspetti fisiopato1ogici relativi al binomio D bryoniae-melone sui rneccanismi di difesa che tale specie agraria grado mettere in atto hanno suggerito di intraprendere un programma di ricerca mirato allo studio dei meccanismi molecolari che regolano I'evolvere di questa interazione.
