Influência das características superficiais na resistência à manchas do grés porcelanato

Abstract

O grés porcelanato freqüentemente é submetido ao processo de polimento para produzir uma superfície brilhante e assim melhorar a característica estética do piso. Porém durante a etapa de polimento, uma camada superficial de até 1 mm é retirada, deixando exposta à superfície poros que estavam fechados no interior do piso, possibilitando desta forma a intrusão de sujeiras e o surgimento de manchas. O ponto principal deste estudo foi analisar todas as etapas do processo cerâmico com vistas a minimizar este problema. O comportamento das amostras a manchas provou estar correlacionado com os diferentes tipos de microestruturas, sendo a morfologia e o tamanho dos poros além da composição expressa pela quantidade de mulita e quartzo, as variáveis que mais influenciam o fenômeno de manchamento. Adicionalmente, foi verificado que o próprio processo de polimento pode ter influência no manchamento por propiciar o surgimento de novos defeitos superficiais. Utilizando uma aproximação estatística foi elaborado um modelo empírico de previsão da quantidade de manchas retida pela superfície do piso após limpeza com água quente a partir dos parâmetros morfológicos e de composição evidenciados pela análise como sendo os mais importantes para o manchamento.
