Abstract

Le metodologie qualitative e quantitative possono essere integrate per valorizzare al meglio le potenzialità della ricerca sociale. Tra i metodi tradizionali della ricerca qualitativa ci sono l'intervista qualitativa e il Focus Group. Le metodologie partecipative sono costruite in buona misura a partire da strumenti e metodi della ricerca qualitativa e possono includere anche elementi quantitativi, come nel caso del Deliberative Poll. Tali metodologie non sono finalizzate all'acquisizione dati per la ricerca sociale, ma sono modelli alternativi di organizzazione delle conoscenze, di costruzione del consenso, di decision making o di assessment. Al binomio misurazione/osservazione si affianca quindi il terzo elemento della partecipazione. Riguardo ai percorsi di VIS una serie di esperienze sono utili all'identificazione di metodologie qualitative e partecipative appropriate: intervista qualitativa, Focus Group, Consensus Conference, Citizen Jury, Deliberative Poll, Scenario Workshop, Delphi, Public Audition, Open Space Technology, Metaplan e World Café. In questa pluralità di tecniche e sulla base delle esperienze sviluppate e analizzate è possibile individuare i percorsi che volta per volta si adattino meglio nella situazione specifica.
