Abstract

A building constructed by individuals or organizations, exists in an enviroment of society. The building involves in a reaction with the people who are independent from the existance of the building. By the beginning of the industrialization, the relation between architect an his client changed. The clients paying for design in big projects are not the ones who are going to use. So that the difference between the paying client and the user client occurs. The relation between architect an his client paying and using one does not exist as it happens in the past, besides the users are from different cultures and classes now. This situation needs a dynamic interactivity between the design and the user. Architecture is to provide this interactivity. Responsibilities and ideals of architecture as a profession alters day by day by the affect of complex enviromental, physical and social queries. Now the architecture aims conservation of the enviroments that are socially, naturally and historically worthy; economic management and long lasting use concepts rather than some trends in the architecture. The most important concept that consists all the others is flexibility. Aproaches aiming continuity in change and adaptation, called flexible design aproaches in architecture. Flexible aproaches in architecture become current because of such reasons like to bring together architecture and time; to compansate unsufficient query in design; to provide users to join the architectural process and to bring together architecture and technology. By the help of some decisions made durring the planning process, flexibility in design process could provide the continuity of functional requirements and architectural enviroment adaptations; solutions of technical ageing. Pratically we could obsorve this approach this aproach in very limited examples such as housing and scientific projects. By observing them we could see the requirement of flexibility increases day by day in architecture.
