Efecto antibacteriano in vitro de infusión de manzanilla (matricaria chamomilla) sobre streptococcus mutans - Puno 2013

Abstract

El objetivo de la presente investigación fue evaluar el efecto antibacteriano in vitro de infusión de MANZANILLA (Matricaria chamomilla) sobre Streptococcus mutans - Puno 2013. Se realizaron infusiones al 2%, 4%, 8% de Matricaria chamomilla. Se utilizó como control positivo a la clorhexidina al O, 12% y como control negativo al agua mineral esterilizada. Para determinar el efecto antibacteriano de las infusiones se utilizó la técnica de test de difusión en disco con cinco tratamientos y tres repeticiones. Se realizó además el perfil de compuestos fenólicos de la infusión al 2% y del extracto hidroalcohólico de Matricaria chamomilla por cromatografía líquida de alta performancia (HPLC). Los resultados mostraron que no hubo efecto antibacteriano in vitro de las infusiones sobre el Streptococcus mutans, ya que no presentaron halos de inhibición; sólo la clorhexidina al 0, 12% presentó un halo de inhibición de 2.5 mm en promedio. El extracto hidroalcohólico presentó mayor concentración de compuestos fenólicos en comparación con la infusión al 2% (37,51 y 26,95 mg/g muestra respectivamente). En conclusión, los resultados mostraron que las infusiones de Matricaria chamomilla, no presentaron propiedades antibacterianas sobre el Streptococcus mutans, probablemente debido a que la concentración de sus principios activos, responsables de sus propiedades antibacterianas, no están presentes en concentraciones adecuadas y también que existe mayor concentración de compuestos fenólicos en el extracto hidroalcohólico que en la infusión al 2% de Matricaria chamomilla, aunque, no existen diferencias estadísticamente significativas (p>0,01).
