Bioadsorción de As y Pb de aguas del rio Crucero - sector Progreso empleando cáscara de plátano (Musa paradisiaca) como bioadsorbente

Abstract

La investigación se desarrolló con el propósito de mitigar la contaminación de las aguas de Rio Crucero sector Progreso con metales pesados por los efluentes mineros. Tuvo como objetivo determinar el porcentaje de bioadsorción de arsénico (As) y plomo (Pb) de aguas del Rio Crucero sector Progreso empleando la cáscara de plátano (Musa paradisiaca) como bioadsorbente, residuo orgánico sin valor económico del cual se obtuvo el carbón activado. Se aplicó la metodología cuantitativa – experimental, la bioadsorción se realizó en reactores tipo Batch, variando determinados parámetros como: cantidad de bioadsorbente de 2 y 4 gramos; tamaño de partícula malla # 20 (0,850 mm) y malla #16 (1,180 mm); tiempo de contacto de 60 y 120 minutos junto con las muestras de agua a tratar, que posteriormente se sometieron a análisis con ICP OES, esto con el propósito de determinar los factores que más influyen en la bioadsorción. Los resultados de la experimentación con carbón obtenido a partir de la cascara de platano muestran porcentajes de bioadsorción para el Arsénico de 67,241% con parámetros óptimos de: cantidad de bioadsorbente de 4 g, tamaño de partícula de 0,850 mm, y tiempo de contacto de 60 minutos, y para el Plomo un porcentaje de bioadsorción de 99,018% con cantidad de bioadsorbente de 4 g, tamaño de partícula de 0,850 mm, y un tiempo de contacto de 120 minutos. Cumpliendo así con los estándares de calidad de aguas y constituyendo estos desechos orgánicos como nueva y prometedora clase de bioadsorbente para eliminar los metales pesados.
