Evaluación in vitro del efecto antibacteriano de microorganismos probióticos de uso alimentario o terapéutico humano

Abstract

El presente estudio determinó in vitro el efecto inhibitorio de los microorganismos probióticos de uso alimentario o terapéutico humano que se expenden en nuestro país, sobre las bacterias patógenas comunes, comparado con el espectro de sensibilidad a los antibióticos establecido para la terapia antibacteriana convencional. Se recuperó las cepas probióticas y se evaluó el efecto antibacteriano de los microorganismos probióticos con el método de Kirby Baüer midiéndose los halos de inhibición del crecimiento de las bacterias patógenas. Se utilizó 11 cepas patógenas y 23 productos probióticos que se expenden en el mercado nacional. Existió diferencias significativas (p<0,05) entre los efectos de los productos probióticos utilizados. Los probióticos evaluados, en mayoría 66,8% poseen potenciales efectos bactericidas o bacteriostáticos sobre las bacterias patógenas encontrándose dentro del rango de sensibilidad completa o de sensibilidad intermedia y en un 33,2%, sensibilidad intermedia baja o de completa resistencia. Se concluyó que los niveles de inhibición, in vitro, del crecimiento de patógenos bacterianos comunes, por los probióticos que se comercializan en nuestro país, son comparables con los efectos establecidos en los parámetros convencionales sobre la actividad antibacteriana de los antibióticos recomendados oficialmente para el tratamiento de infecciones causadas por dichos patógenos.
