Abstract

Ce dossier de la revue Communication se donne pour ambition de questionner la construction du journalisme en tant qu’objet scientifique de recherche et de savoir. La construction du journalisme en tant qu’objet scientifique trouve sa genèse et sa justification avec l’émergence et le développement d’un questionnement sur le rôle de la presse et des médias et d’un enseignement portant sur la formation professionnelle de journaliste. Son principal apport consiste certainement dans l’établissement d’un lien fort entre liberté de la presse, journalisme et démocratie. Ses limites n’en restent pas moins la réduction de l’épaisseur du journalisme à la pratique journalistique sans pour autant parvenir à une théorie qui rende compte de l’économie générale de la pratique.
