In her monograph Krieg und Kriegserinnerung im Museum [War and War Memories in the Museum, 2017] Monika Heinemann proposes a novel method of analysing exhibitions in historical museums. This method is an adaptation of Clifford Geertz’s thick description, but it is also based on a combination of synchronic and diachronic analysis. Heinemann analyses the transformations of basic interpretative patterns in permanent exhibitions in Polish historical museums. The results of her analyses allow her to identify a long-term shift in the Polish culture of remembrance from the 1980s to the first decade of the twenty-first century.

Monika Heinemann w książce Krieg und Kriegserinnerung im Museum… (2017) proponuje nowatorską metodę analizy wystaw w muzeach historycznych. Stanowi ona z jednej strony adaptację opisu gęstego Clifforda Geertza, z drugiej zaś – opiera się na połączeniu analizy synchronicznej i diachronicznej. Autorka recenzowanej publikacji analizuje przemiany podstawowych wzorców interpretacyjnych obecnych na wystawach stałych w polskich muzeach historycznych. Wyniki prowadzonych przez nią analiz pozwalają na scharakteryzowanie przemian polskiej kultury pamięci w długiej perspektywie – od lat 80. do pierwszej dekady XXI wieku.
