Classes populaires, orientations politiques et engagement militant

Abstract

Pour certains, les classes populaires sont en déshérence de représentation politique. Pour d’autres, le pouvoir d’encadrement et de structuration joué naguère par les grandes organisations est annoncé comme révolu. Toujours est-il que les partis politiques censés représenter le salariat sinon le monde ouvrier ne semblent plus en mesure d’opposer un véritable projet alternatif à la rationalité économique dominante. Les organisations syndicales apparaissent quant à elles bien souvent trop faibles et trop divisées. Dans quelle mesure l’évolution vers un capitalisme globalisé, informationnel avec une fragmentation des statuts sociaux et une précarisation de l’emploi a-t-elle bouleversé les clivages qui faisaient exister la lutte des classes ? Peut-on alors parler d’une désaffiliation classiste des acteurs sociaux ? Ou assistons-nous plutôt à une redéfinition et une réappropriation du politique fondées sur plusieurs enjeux conflictuels ? La « droitisation » des classes populaires est-elle avérée ? Assiste-t-on à un militantisme « à la carte » et quelle place la question du travail peut-elle encore jouer dans l’engagement ?
