Géographie, musique et postcolonialisme

Abstract

Dans une approche de géographie postcoloniale, il nous semble que deux tropismes se dégagent de l’intérêt qui se manifeste pour les musiques actuelles et/ou du monde. En premier lieu l’empathie pour les peuples dominés auxquels les jeunes qui se pensaient à une époque « sans futur » se sont identifiés au départ dans les quartiers les plus fragilisés des villes. En second lieu l’exotisme qui se réalise par des voyages fantasmés à travers l’écoute musicale, les concerts, les festivals, les pratiques culturelles, etc. Quels effets ces modes et ces pratiques ont-elles sur les espaces auxquels elles se réfèrent : quartiers d’exil des grandes métropoles, territoires et nations en mutation du sud qui se réapproprient ces musiques au service des identités locales ? Peut-on poser l’hypothèse que ces modes musicales participent à la construction de nouveaux imaginaires territoriaux ?
