Livros acadêmicos brasileiros em acesso aberto

Abstract

The article examines the indicators of internationalization for the collection of 171 digital books of the Cultura Acadêmica label published by UNESP in open access and made available on the SciELO Books platform. The objective of the research focused on measuring the international impact of the collection based on the foreign citations that these works received. The authors carried out a descriptive study, with a quantitative approach, using Google Scholar (GS) as a source. Data collection made use of Publish or Perish software, that compiles citations from documents indexed in GS. The results showed that the collection of digital books published by Cultura Acadêmica reached 136 citations by foreign authors, 50% of them from Portugal. The areas of knowledge that attracted the greatest number of citations were the Human and Social Sciences. It was also found that its condition as an open access information resource gave rise to greater visibility of this collection by the international scientific community. The authors conclude that, in order to guarantee the greater international circulation of Brazilian books, some editorial strategies must be changed.
