Anachronismes

Abstract

À l’heure où la vérité historique, tournée en mystification complotiste ou soumise à la censure de nationalismes résurgents, est de plus en plus ouvertement menacée par le pouvoir politico-médiatique, il semble urgent d’interroger l’usage que nous faisons des retours plus ou moins imaginaires de l’histoire. Si l’on décrit souvent le XIXe siècle comme celui qui a vu se constituer l’histoire en tant que savoir, l’approche positiviste n’est pas, loin de là, la seule qu’aient pratiquée les historien·ne·s, penseur·se·s, artistes et écrivain·e·s de l’époque contemporaine. En marge d’une vision de l’« histoire » scientifique et rationnelle, se dessine en effet une représentation beaucoup moins disciplinée, beaucoup plus baroque du passé, marquée par la distorsion, la bifurcation, l’incohérence. Parmi ces aberrations, la figure de l’anachronisme semble particulièrement évocatrice.
