Les effets des entreprises capitalistes sur l’environnement en zone littorale

Abstract

Dans la suite de l’hypothèse de l’anthropocène avancée par Crutzen, l’idée d’une responsabilité particulière de l’activité économique capitaliste et donc des entreprises dans les bouleversements environnementaux a contribué au développement d’une notion spécifique, le capitalocène. Dans une perspective critique, ces travaux soulignent la responsabilité du capitalisme dans la destruction de l’environnement. Ils ouvrent ici une perspective forte de ce colloque, celui de documenter l’impact historique d’entreprises capitalistes sur l’environnement, invitant à des approches mêlant histoire économique et histoire environnementale. Cet appel est aussi une invitation à proposer des exemples historiques montrant comment le développement d’entreprises ou d’activités capitalistiques a pu avoir un impact environnemental positif. Le contexte littoral de la Rochelle est une invitation à explorer plus particulièrement deux activités économiques particulières, les activités portuaires et les activités touristiques.
