Caso Clínico Enfermero Parálisis Periódica Hipocalémica

Abstract

INTRODUCTION : Rare Diseases (ER) are a wide heterogeneous group of diseases of low prevalence, usually chronic and disabling. Hypokalemic periodic paralysis (hypoPP) is one of these pathologies that generate episodes of muscle weakness, provoking a temporary disability to the patient. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this project is to provide a new and organized treatment of hypokalemic periodic paralysis through a case, determined at the hands of nursing approach. Besides offering a clear, organized and detailed view of pathology, it is used to reflect about the disease and the implications of those who suffer that weakness. METHODOLOGY : The Process Nursing Care (PAE) is used in order to analyze the clinical case. Indeed, it is a systematic method of care that allows you to create a healthcare program focused on patient responses and aimed at solving the problems or demands of patient health with hypoPP. CONCLUSIONS : The invisibility of the disease generates a huge lack of information which can be solved by the nurse through therapeutic education sessions. Regarding this matter, the patient can achieve a better quality of life. KEY WORDS: Paralysis, Familial periodic hypokalemia, hypokalemia Family periodic
