Uso de la terapia floral en enfermería

Abstract

Nowadays, the floral therapy is increasing ever more in use, even though its practice has been utilized since the down of humanity. The technique of the floral therapy is based on non-intrusive procedures, like massages, inhalations, therapeutic baths or the use of essential oils. These oils are extracted from different parts and types of plants, with various techniques. And depending on their chemical composition their properties vary. The oil efficiency is contemplated in different medical treatments like, oncology, mental health, genecology, obstetrics and others. Furthermore, studies have shown excellent results regarding investigations in vitro, concluding that its properties can contribute in the creation of new medications. The regulation of the complementary therapies and floral therapies is not equal to all countries. In some countries these practices are integrated within the healthcare, on the contrary, in countries like Spain, they are not regulated by the legislation. Nursing is the most indicated profession to utilize the floral therapy, as this practice permits realizing holistic care of the patient independently, increasing the satisfaction of both: the client and the medical professional. Investigations in floral therapies are important for the medical community, for this practice to be integrated into our healthcare system. They are also important to provide the nurses with specific skills, which will lead to a more complementary medical assistance.
