Se realizó un estudio prospectivo experimental ciego, en pacientes que acudieron a la consulta gastroenterológica del Hospital II IPSS - TACNA por presentar cuadro clínico de gastritis. Se estudiaron 18 pacientes quienes tuvieron endoscopía y biopsia antes y después de la administración de alicina (un diente de ajo) por 20 días, con un grupo de control de 15 pacientes. Los resultados mostraron negativización de Helicobacter pylóri en el 71% de pacientes que recibieron alicina, frente al grupo control que sólo negativizó el 16%. Este estudio demostró la influencia dietética de algunos elementos como la alicina en el curso natural de la enfermedad y una alternativa que debe ser considerada como tratamiento en poblaciones grandes con escasos recursos económicos.
A prospective, experimental, simple blind study was performed in outpatients of the Gastroenterology Service at SSPI Tacna Hospital attending for symptoms of gastritis. 18 patients were studied as the case-group having endoscopy before and after Alicine (a clove of garlic) ingestion for 20 days, Other 15 patients were included as the control-group. Results showed removal of Helycobacter pylori in 71% of patients receiving Alicine compared to 16% in the control group. This study has demonstrated the influence of some diet nutrients such as Alicine for this disease and to consider it as an alternative treatment for Low income populations
