Abstract

A prospective, experimental, simple blind study was performed in outpatients of the Gastroenterology Service at SSPI Tacna Hospital attending for symptoms of gastritis. 18 patients were studied as the case-group having endoscopy before and after Alicine (a clove of garlic) ingestion for 20 days, Other 15 patients were included as the control-group. Results showed removal of Helycobacter pylori in 71% of patients receiving Alicine compared to 16% in the control group. This study has demonstrated the influence of some diet nutrients such as Alicine for this disease and to consider it as an alternative treatment for Low income populations
