Abstract

Se informa una evaluación económica parcial tipo costos de resultados. Se revisaron las historias clínicas de los pacientes egresados entre el 1 de enero y el 30 de noviembre de 1997, en el Servicio de Cirugía Pediátrica del Hospital EsSalud "Edgardo Rebagliati", con el diagnóstico de apendicitis, para calcular los costos unitarios. Se colectaron datos de 203 casos en el período de estudio: de éstos, el 29. 1 % fueron apendicitis complicadas. La edad media de ambos grupos no difirió significativamente, predominó el sexo masculino. El tiempo de enfermedad fue de 15.8 ± 6.2 horas para casos no complicados y de 28.4 ± 10 horas para casos complicados. La estancia hospitalaria fue mayor en promedio en los casos complicados. El costo unitario de la apendicitis no complicada fue de S/. 1,237 nuevos soles y aumentó hasta S/. 2,603 nuevos soles en los casos complicados.

A study partial economic outcome costs assessment is reported. Clinical records of patients discharged from January 1 to November 30, 1997, were revised al the Pediatric Surgery Service of EsSalud Edgardo Rebagliati Hospital with the diagnosis of appendicitis to estimate unitary costs. Data were collected from 203 cases in the study term. 29.1 % of cases were complicated appendicitis. Mean age was similar in both groups, male sex was predominant in the sample studied. Disease onset time was 15.8 ± 6.2 hours for uncomplicated cases and 28.4 ± 10 hours for complicated ones. Average hospital stay days was longer for complicated appendicitis. Unitary cost of uncompleted appendicitis was S/. 1.237 soles raising up to S/. 2.603 soles for complicated cases.
