Abstract

ABSTRACT: Between November 1 and December 1, 2009, we conducted a study along the coast of Camaná and Caravelí from El Tnel (Quilca - Camaná) 16°32’14.57”S - 72°53’22.13”W in the south, to Punta Atico (Atico - Caravelí) 16°12’39.39”S - 73°42’49.46”W in the north. During the study, we identified 21 natural banks of benthic resources of rocky bottom and 2 banks of a sandy substrate, which were defined according to their location, area, mean depth, and bioecological characteristics. The following 14 commercially important benthic invertebrate species were recorded: Concholepas concholepas, Thaisella chocolata, Fissurella latimarginata, Fissurella cumingi, Fissurella limbata, Acanthopleura echinata, Aulacomya atra, Leukoma thaca, Semele corrugata, Gari solida, Octopus mimus, Loxechinus albus, Romaleon setosum, and Platyxanthus orbignyi, all of them in a rocky substrate, while Mesodesma donacium was detected in sandy substrate.
