Abstract

La presente tesis expone la necesidad de herramientas computacionales capaz de evaluar el desempeño en redes wireless para zonas rurales que permitan en beneficio del operador y del usuario final de los servicios de comunicaciones de buena calidad. La investigación presenta tres herramientas computacionales que ayudaran en el modelamiento y simulación de redes wireless (inalámbricas) y evaluar su desempeño a nivel de la capa física midiendo el troughput (rendimiento), la tasa de bits o paquetes errados (BER) y niveles de potencia en el receptor. Las herramientas computacionales a utilizar son el Riverbed Opnet Modeler, el Matlab/GUI para el Terrestrial Link Budget’s y Simulation el Satellite Link’s Budget’s y el Link Calculator. La investigación presenta y pone énfasis en el desarrollo y aplicación del Opnet Modeler por ser una herramienta poderosa para el modelamiento y simulación de redes wireless, incluso aquellas mas complejas como son las redes híbridas o combinación de redes satelitales de alto rendimiento (HTS) que trabajan en la banda Ka y redes wireless terrestres de alto rendimiento, que se aplican en la solución de comunicaciones para zonas rurales y localidades remotas.
