Extracción y caracterización de aceite esencial de Jengibre (Zingiber officinalis)

Abstract

En la presente investigación se ha estudiado la extracción del aceite esencial de jengibre mediante el método de arrastre con vapor. También se han hecho análisis de algunas propiedades físico químicas del jengibre, así como de aceite esencial. Dentro de las características de los rizomas del jengibre se encontró que presentan una humedad de 79 % y 1,7 % de cenizas. Para una buena extracción del aceite esencial, ha sido necesario un secado previo de los rizomas a la temperatura de 30 ° C por una duración de 4- 5 días, así como una molienda adecuada para obtener un mejor rendimiento. El secado se realizó en una estufa con recirculación de aire. Temperatura de arrastre con vapor ha sido de 97°C y la presión de arrastre de 1 atm. El rendimiento de aceite ha sido de 0,5 % del paso del material seco. Las características físicas de aceite son: Densidad 0,876 g/cm3, índice de refracción 1,4588, soluble en alcohol. El análisis del aceite por espectroscopia de IR y UV indica la presencia de sesquiterpenos, siendo zingibereno el principal componente.
