Evaluación in vitro de la concentración de fluoruros en pastas dentales para niños comercializadas en el Perú

Abstract

Objetivo: Evaluar in vitro la concentración de Flúor Total (FT) y Flúor Soluble Total (FST) en las pastas dentales para niños que tengan una concentración mínima de 1000 ppm F- en el etiquetado. Materiales y métodos: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, transversal, in vitro, donde la muestra estuvo conformada por 7 marcas de pastas dentales para niños con concentraciones ≥ 1000 ppm F-, por cada marca se obtuvieron tres tubos de pasta dental, las cuales se compraron en diferentes supermercados o farmacias de Lima Metropolitana. De cada pasta dental se tomaron muestras por duplicado. Las concentraciones de FT y FST se analizaron mediante el uso del electrodo selectivo de ion F-. Resultados: El FT de las pastas dentales analizadas estuvo cerca del valor que indica el fabricante a excepción de tres marcas, cuyas concentraciones fueron menores que las del fabricante siendo una de ellas la de menor valor (X: 525.27). Seis de las siete pastas dentales analizadas presentaron una concentración de FST ≥ 1000 ppm F-. Solo una pasta dental presentó 19% de Flúor Insoluble (Fins). Conclusiones: El presente estudio muestra que todas las pastas dentales dirigidas al público infantil que presentan una concentración ≥1000 ppm F- están indicadas para niños de 6 años a más según el rotulado; solo tres pastas dentales presentaron discrepancias entre lo que indica el fabricante y el FT encontrado. Solo una pasta dental presentó los valores más bajos de FT y FST.
