Abstract

Objetivo: Evaluar in vitro la influencia del Orthospeed® sobre la resistencia friccional de los alambres Sentalloy® de 0.014” (GAC) y Turbo® 0.017 x 0.025” (Ormco). Materiales y métodos: Se utilizaron 60 segmentos de alambre, 30 de 0.014” y 30 de 0.017 x 0.025”, asignándose 10 de cada grupo para las capas intermedias: estado seco, saliva artificial y Orthospeed®; cada alambre se colocó sobre una maqueta formada por una placa con tres brackets Damon MX. Resultados: En ambos tipos de alambre se encontró diferencia estadísticamente significativa al comparar todas las capas intermedias, así mismo, entre los pares seco y saliva y los pares seco y Orthospeed®, sin embargo, no se encontró diferencia estadística significativa entre saliva y Orthospeed®. Conclusiones: La aplicación del Orthospeed® redujo la resistencia friccional entre los alambres y brackets utilizados.
