Abstract

Background: Faced with the COVID-19 pandemic, a biosafety protocol is required in dental centers to counteract the spread of this disease. General objective: To describe the characteristics of the conditions considered in the epidemiological surveillance plan for COVID-19 in the Teaching Dental Center of the Faculty of Stomatology of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia for the years 2021 and 2022. Materials and methods: A longitudinal study was carried out using virtual anonymous surveys by Google Forms. to the selected population in the Teaching Dental Center of the Faculty of Stomatology of the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia (CDD-UPCH). Results: In the year 2021, 20.56% (n=155) had a positive diagnosis of COVID-19 and the following year it was 30.12%. In the year 2021, 47.08% (n=355) were vaccinated, while in 2022, 94.5% (n=618) received COVID-19 vaccination. Conclusion: Comparing the conditions of the considered characteristics of the epidemiological surveillance plan of COVID-19 in the Teaching Dental Center of the Faculty of Stomatology of the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia in the years 2021 and 2022; COVID-19 diagnoses increased, the type of covid-19 diagnosis increased by molecular tests, and the type of COVID-19 symptoms increased to mild symptoms.
