Desde la segunda mitad del siglo XX, el estudio del comportamiento proambiental ha cobrado relevancia como una alternativa a nivel individual para contrarrestar los efectos negativos de la contaminación ambiental y uso desmedido de recursos naturales. En Latinoamérica, el aumento de evidencia sobre las problemáticas ambientales que afectan la región ha sido acompañado del interés por investigar soluciones como el comportamiento proambiental. Empero, no se posee una revisión actualizada de la literatura sobre este conjunto complejo y diverso de acciones que, por su propia naturaleza, poseen dificultades metodológicas para su estudio. Se plantea la realización de un estado del arte que analice de forma crítica el estudio del comportamiento proambiental en Latinoamérica durante los últimos 11 años, que permita un desarrollo científico unificado sobre la materia. Se realizó un análisis cualitativo interpretativo, de tipo documental, utilizando investigaciones sobre comportamiento proambiental publicadas en Latinoamérica durante los años 2010 y 2020.

Throughout the past 50 years, the study of pro-environmental behaviors has gained relevance as an alternative to counteract the negative effects of environmental pollution and excessive use of natural resources. In Latin America, increasing research on environmental problems has encouraged the search for effective solutions, including the ones at the individual level as pro-environmental behaviors. However, there is no recent review of literature yet on this diverse set of actions that, by their very nature, pose methodological difficulties for their study. This essay proposes a critical analysis in the study of pro-environmental behavior in Latin America during the last 11 years (2010–2020) to provide a comprehensive guide that allows scientific development on the matter. The analysis was based on a qualitative desk-based approach.
