El engagement laboral en el trabajo remoto

Abstract

The aim of this study was to systematize the knowledge about Work Engagement in a Remote Work context during the last five years. For that purpose, some conceptual definitions were presented based on theoretical and empirical sources, such as research published in indexed journals like ProQuest, Research Gate and MDPI. Likewise, the methodology most used to investigate the variable of engagement within this context was presented and the related variables were identified. In the same way, several scientific evidence were described in relation to it, as well as similar topics that provided a contribution to the analysis. Based on these reviews, a theoretical reflection, and an appreciation of how this study contributes to psychology and professional practice was made. It was concluded that people who performed remote work prior to the pandemic showed a series of benefits that allowed them to enhance their level of engagement; however, under the circumstances of the pandemic, very variable results were found in the levels of engagement according to the type of context. In some cases, positive results were evident. However, certain scenarios were affected by variables related to the organizational context itself, such as working hours, the management of technological resources, the difficulty of finding a balance between work and personal life, etc. Finally, 4 suggestions for future research related to the topic and 2 limitations of the study were offered.
