Abstract

Context: Malocclusions are considered one of the most prevalent oral diseases by the World Health Organization, caused by environmental and genetic factors, this being the reason why more research is required at the national level. Objective: Determine the level of malocclusions in Peruvians under 18 years old. Information Search Processes: The search through the MeSH terms of the Pubmed platform yielded four results. Based on the inclusion criteria, the filter for journals from the last twelve years was applied, which resulted in 2 scientific journals, which incorporate the Spanish and English languages. When applying the filter of cross-sectional studies, one comparative study and one descriptive study were obtained, which were evaluated and the appropriate ones were incorporated. Analysis of evidence: Due to the scarce information about malocclusions in children under 18 years old at the national level, it is necessary to continue carrying out epidemiological surveys, where these are highlighted as a relevant problem in oral health. Conclusion: Class I malocclusion according to Angle's classification is the most prevalent in Peruvians under 18 years old, in addition to dental crowding and exaggerated overjet, which are the most frequent orthodontic alterations.
