Gasto de bolsillo en salud en la provincia de Chiclayo

Abstract

Los hogares son una de las principales fuentes de financiamiento del sistema de salud. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo determinar el Gasto de Bolsillo en Salud (GBS) realizado por los hogares de la provincia de Chiclayo durante el tercer trimestre del año 2013. Se diseñó un estudio cuantitativo de tipo transversal, descriptivo, dirigido a jefes de familia; se utilizó un cuestionario estructurado y se realizaron 545 entrevistas directas. Los resultados muestran que los hogares chiclayanos realizan un gasto en salud promedio de S/. 153,0 al mes, lo cual representa el 20,4% de una remuneración mínima vital (S/. 750,0). Dicho gasto es destinado a: compra de medicamentos 28,7%, consulta odontológica 17,5%, compra o alquiler de aparatos médicos (principalmente anteojos) 16,1%, consulta médica privada 10,4%, hospitalización en centro privado 8,4%, entre otros. Para conocer cómo afecta dicho gasto a los hogares, se determinó la Carga del GBS que asciende a 10,6% de la capacidad de pago del hogar, lo cual es alto y debe ser considerado por las autoridades de la Región Lambayeque a fin de implementar políticas de salud que brinden protección financiera en caso de enfermedad, en especial a los hogares en situación de pobreza (22,0%).
