Abstract

In this case study, the objective was to improve the interactions between the members of a dysfunctional family in order to strengthen the well-being of the child, for which an evaluation and subsequent family intervention were carried out from the systemic approach. The resources used in evaluation are checklists that evaluated family interaction, limits, hierarchies and family communication, and techniques such as circular questions and complementarity were used for the intervention. The results indicate that parent-child and parental interactions were improved. In addition, behavioral changes were observed, such as taking turns to speak, using an appropriate tone of voice, active listening, child involvement in decision-making, and agreements on routines and corrective measures. This allows us to conclude that family intervention improved limits, hierarchies and communication in family members. Since the implementation of norms and rules in the home, distribution of roles and effective communication (taking turns and active listening) used by the family to make decisions were achieved.
