Calidad de vida relacionada a la salud y perfil lipídico en vegetarianos y no-vegetarianos de Lima Metropolitana, 2019

Abstract

Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo comparar la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud y el perfil lipídico en vegetarianos y no-vegetarianos. Se consideraron a 149 vegetarianos y no-vegetarianos. Se evaluó la calidad de vida relacionada con la salud con el Cuestionario de Salud SF-12. Se determinaron el perfil lipídico, glucosa, presión arterial, medidas antropométricas y las características sociodemográficas. Los resultados muestran que los vegetarianos <25 años presentaron mayores puntuaciones en el componente de salud física que los no-vegetarianos, esas diferencias fueron significativas (p<0.049). Se encontró una diferencia significativa en las concentraciones de lipoproteínas de baja densidad (LDL), (p<0.019). No hubo diferencia significativa entre los niveles de lipoproteína de alta densidad (HDL) y triglicéridos (TG). Se observó diferencia significativa entre la PAS en las mujeres vegetarianas y no-vegetarianas (p<0.017). El Índice de Masa Corporal (IMC) y la Circunferencia de la Cintura (CC) fueron significativamente diferentes entre los dos grupos, (p<0.001) y (p<0.008), respectivamente. La exclusión de la carne no necesariamente refleja un patrón dietético saludable, debido a que, éste, depende de diversos factores, como consumo abundante de alimentados basados en plantas mínimamente procesados, consumo de agua, actividad física regular, entre otros.
