Son yıllarda giderek daha fazla araştırmanın konusu haline gelmiş olan “helal turizm” ve “helal konseptli otel” kavramları hakkında tartışmalar devam ederken, bu turizm ve konaklama türüne duyulan ilgi sektörel anlamda da giderek artmaktadır. Bu ilgi, beraberinde bazı yönetimsel konuları da gündeme getirmektedir. Helal konseptli otellerin belirli bir standardizasyonunun olmaması, otel çalışanlarının seçimi ve refahı bağlamında sorunlara yol açabilmektedir. Bu bağlamda çalışmanın amacı turizm eğitimi alan ve helal konseptli bir otelde çalışmış öğrencilerin çalışma deneyimlerinin ortaya konulmasıdır. Belirlenen amaç doğrultusunda nitel yöntemin kullanıldığı çalışmada, Muğla Sıtkı Koçman Üniversitesi Turizm Fakültesi’nde lisans eğitimi alan ve helal konseptli bir otelde çalışma deneyimi bulunan öğrencilerle görüşme yapılmıştır. Nitel verilerin analizi sonucunda, öğrencilerin genel olarak lojman ve maaş gibi olumlu özelliklere sahip helal konseptli bir otelde çalışmaktan memnun olduğu ancak klasik otellerin aksine yeni bilgiler öğrenme aşamasında otelin yetersiz kaldığı ve çalışanlar için daha katı kurallara sahip olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

In recent years, “halal tourism” and “halal hotels” have become a point of focus for tourism researchers while the interest in this type of tourism and accommodation has also increased in the industry. This also brings up some management issues. Lacking of an international or national standardisation, halal hotel managers may face some problems in employee choices and their welfare. In this regard, the aim of this study is to research work experiences of the students enrolled at a tourism undergraduate program. For this aim, with a qualitative approach, the students at Mugla Sıtkı Koçman University, Faculty of Tourism who had experienced working at a halal hotel were interviewed. As a result of qualitative data analyses, it was revealed that the participant students were satisfied with working at a halal hotel because of some positive factors such as a better salary and lodging facility; but unlike other hotels, halal hotels could be insufficient for students in educative terms and had strict rules for employees.
