Abstract

The objective was to determine the relationship between adolescent pregnancy as a factor associated with low birth weight in newborns at the Leoncio Prado Hospital in Huamachuco during the period from January to December 2017. The sample size corresponded to the population, that is, it was a census study. It was concluded that adolescent pregnancy is not a factor associated with Low Birth Weight at the Leoncio Prado Hospital - Huamachuco during 2017, since the p value >0.05, in addition to the RR value = 1.395 with a 95% CI (0.875 - 2.224). Likewise, the highest incidence rate Low Birth Weight was 12.62 in adolescent pregnant women (12 to 18 years old), while non-adolescent pregnant women (19 to 34 years old) had an incidence rate of 9.38. Finally, the highest incidence rate normal birth weight was 90.62 in non-adolescent pregnant women (19 to 34 years old), while adolescent pregnant women (12 to 18 years old) had an incidence rate of 87.38.
