Abstract

OBJETIVO: Determinar si la ganancia excesiva de peso durante la gestación es factor que incrementa el riesgo de obesidad en niños menores de 5 años en el Hospital Belén de Trujillo durante el período comprendido entre marzo a mayo del 2019. MATERIAL Y MÉTODOS: Se realizó un estudio de casos y controles, evaluándose 62 casos y 124 controles, en función a la presencia o no de obesidad infantil en el Hospital Belén de Trujillo. RESULTADOS: Los niños tuvieron un promedio de edad en los casos y controles de 54,49 ± 3,43 y 53,93 ± 3,93 meses; la proporción de varones en los casos y controles fue 51,61% y 54,84%. El IMC de los niños fue 20,30 ± 0,93 y 16,46 ± 1,50 en los casos y controles; p < 0,001. La ganancia de peso gestacional fue 12,99 ± 3,55 vs 11.01 ± 4,27; p < 0,001 en los casos y controles respectivamente; la distribución de niños según los antecedentes maternos de ganancia excesiva de peso gestacional (41,94% vs 23,39%; OR = 2,37 [1,23 - 4,55]; p < 0,01), fue una variable asociada a la presencia de obesidad infantil. CONCLUSIONES: La ganancia excesiva de peso gestacional resultó ser un factor de riesgo para la obesidad infantil.
