In the basis of this study whose subject is about the plant culture in Giresun, the place of plants in folk belief and the usages of them have been searched. How the plants have been topic to the products of folk literature (quatrains, riddles, proverbs, idioms, anecdotes, etc.) have been indicated in the research. The aim of the study is to find out the past and present using fields of some of the plants that grow in Giresun. It is to determine how a plant is used for an illness cure and to prevent it from being forgotten through recording how it has reflected into the types of folk literature.The anthologies comprise Giresun and its districts. (Bulancak, Piraziz, Keşap, Espiye, Tirebolu, Şebinkarahisar, Dereli, Alucra, Çamoluk, Eynesil, Görele, Doğankent, Çanakçı, Yağlıdere, Güce) Field work has been carried out by interviewing with the sources (via Question and Answer).With the help of technological devices (mobile phones, camera, etc.) the study has been more practical. The data gathered, voice records, resources have been transferred into the written form. Thus, it was tried to reach to the oral tradition in the memories of the people of Giresun. The applications of folk medicine depending on the old belief and the products of folk literature have been brought to light. The plants determined as a result of the anthologies have an important in the local cuisine as well as folk belief and medicine. The belief affect the local cuisine. Consequently, some fruit, vegetables and wild plants, etc. are consumed as a source of healing in the direction of folk medicine.

Giresun'daki bitki kültürü konulu bu çalışmanın temelinde bitkilerin halk inanmalarındaki yeri ve halk hekimliğinde kullanımı araştırılmıştır. Bitkilerin halk edebiyatı ürünlerine (mani, bilmece, atasözü, deyim, fıkra vs.) nasıl konu oldukları araştırmada belirtilmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı Giresun'da yetişen bitkilerden bazılarının geçmişte ve günümüzde kullanım alanlarını belirlemektir. Bir bitkinin bir hastalığın tedavisinde nasıl kullanıldığını tespit etmek ve halk edebiyatı ürünlerine ne şekilde yansıdığının kayda geçirilip unutulmasını önlemektir. Derlemeler Giresun ve ilçelerini (Bulancak, Piraziz, Keşap, Espiye, Tirebolu, Şebinkarahisar, Dereli, Alucra, Çamoluk, Eynesil, Görele, Doğankent, Çanakçı, Yağlıdere, Güce) kapsamaktadır. Saha çalışması, kaynak kişilerle röportaj yoluyla (soru-cevap şeklinde) yapılmıştır. Teknolojik cihazlar (telefon, kamera vs.) yardımıyla çalışma daha pratik olmuştur. Elde edilen veriler, ses kayıtları, kaynaklar yazıya geçirilmiştir. Böylece Giresun halkının hafızasındaki sözlü geleneklere ulaşılmaya çalışılmıştır. Eski inanışlara bağlı olarak halk hekimliği uygulamaları ve halk edebiyatı ürünleri gün yüzüne çıkmıştır. Derlemeler sonucunda tespit edilen bitkiler, halk inanış ve hekimliğinin yanı sıra halk mutfağında önemli yere sahiptir. İnanışlar yerel mutfağı etkilemektedir. Sonuç olarak Giresun'da bazı meyveler, sebzeler, yabanî bitkiler vs. halk hekimliği doğrultusunda şifa kaynağı olarak tüketilmektedir.
