Abstract

The aim of this study was to the investigate theeffect of the resin which an additional components of wood and resin cleaningmethods on the performance of the varnish layer. For this purpose, scots pine(Pinussylvestris L.), black pine (Pinusnigra subsp.), larch (Larix decidua) andspruce (Piceaabies) woods were preferred which are anatomically includedifferent amount of resin. Physical and chemical resin cleaning process wasperformed on the samples using acetone, cellulosic thinner, sodium hydroxide +hydrogen peroxide (NaOH + H2O2) and soft soap. Then, one and two componentwater-based varnishes were applied to the surface of these samples. Later,samples were exposed to hot and cold-check test in accordance with theprinciples of ASTM D-1211. The changesof the hardness values of samples were investigated according to ASTM D 2240.As the result of the study, itis found that the resin cleaning chemicals and methods were ineffective on thelayer hardness value of water-based varnishes.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, odunun yan bileşiği olan reçineve reçine temizleme yöntemlerinin su bazlı verniklerin katman sertliğini nasıletkilediğini belirlemektir. Bu amaçla, anatomik yapısı itibariye farklı reçinemiktarlarına sahip sarıçam (Pinus sylvestris L.), karaçam (Pinus nigra subsp.),melez (Larix decidua) ve Ladin (Picea abies) odunları tercih edilmiştir.Örneklere aseton, selülozik tiner, sodyum hidroksit (NaOH) , sodyum hidroksit+hidrojen peroksit (NaOH + H2O2) ve Arap sabunu kimyasalları kullanılarak,fiziksel ve kimyasal reçine temizleme işlemi uygulanmıştır. Daha sonra bu örnekyüzeylerine tek ve iki bileşenli su bazlı vernikler sürülmüştür. Ardından,örnekler ASTM-D 1211 de belirtilen esaslar doğrultusunda sıcak-soğuk testinetabi tutulmuştur. Örneklerde meydana gelen sertlik değişimleri ASTM D 2240’egöre incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, reçine temizleme kimyasallarıve yöntemlerinin su bazlı verniklerin katman sertliği üzerinde etkisininolmadığı tespit edilmiştir.
