Abstract

El uso de la visión artificial se está extendiendo cada día más entre los diferentes sectores industriales tanto en proceso de control de producto como en control de proceso. La utilización de esta tecnología y los beneficios que su uso conlleva, se centran principalmente en sectores industriales de metales y de alimentación. La visión artificial o por computador es una técnica basada en la adquisición de imágenes, generalmente en dos dimensiones, para su posterior procesamiento por el computador, con el fin de extraer y medir determinadas propiedades de la imagen adquirida. Se trata, por lo tanto de una tecnología que combina los computadores con las cámaras de video para adquirir, analizar e interpretar imágenes de una forma equivalente a la inspección visual humana. Actualmente se aplica en diversos procesos científicos y militares, extendiéndose su uso además, en un amplio rango de sectores industriales para la automatización de tareas anteriormente reservadas para la inspección visual humana. El incremento del uso de sistemas de visión artificial se ha dado ya que una de sus aplicaciones fuertes es la supervisión o inspección, haciendo al sistema más eficiente, porque esta tecnología es más objetiva que una inspección humana.
