Abstract

Iniciando el siglo XX, en el auge de las teorías, corrientes y políticas económicas, América Latina entra en una evaluación mundial por describir un modelo de desarrollo apropiado que permita que ésta se acople al entorno internacional, potencialice su economía y finalmente genere desarrollo económico. Así, grandes sociólogos, políticos y entes como la CEPAL, iniciaron una caracterización casi llevada a decenios de lo que fue el desarrollo económico de la región, desde los tiempos de la colonización, los periodos durante y postguerras, hasta la globalización de capitales; lo que concluye en la explicación del estado de subdesarrollo y dependencia de los países latinoamericanos con los países industrializados y más desarrollados. Por tal, en este artículo se discute sobre si el nuevo orden mundial aísla a los países subdesarrollados, denominados periféricos, de la dependencia económica, las bases que fundamentan dicha dependencia y el estructuralismo desarrollista, que sigue siendo una medida de desarrollo que continúa vigente como condición de los países latinoamericanos.
