Učinkovitost strnjenega tečaja čuječnosti MBSR v spletni obliki

Abstract

Purpose: Cultivating mindfulness in everyday life brings many positive effects in terms of mental well-being and quality of life. Some authors argue that mindfulness can be the first line of defense in the struggle for mental health for the general population. There are many different approaches to teaching mindfulness. One of the most effective and most researched is the mindfulness-based stress reduction program or MBSR. However, the program can be time consuming and difficult, which can deter many potential users. Thus, in the master's thesis, we ask whether a modified online mindfulness course can still be effective for the general non-clinical population. Method: An MBSR program was reduced to two comprehensive meetings, conducted online using the Zoom platform, on a sample of third-year students of the Psychosocial Support course at the School of Advanced Social Studies (Fakulteta za uporabne družbene študije v Novi Gorici). Using a qualitative research method, we evaluated the effectiveness of the course using a semi-structured interview (first immediately after the course, and again after two months). We asked 12 participants about their perceived practical benefits of personal mindfulness practice, their experience in planning it, and their experience with the online format. Results: Most participants were able to develop a personal mindfulness practice, and maintain it for two months after the course. Also, most participants perceived at least some positive effects of a personal mindfulness practice. The participants mostly considered the online implementation to be appropriate

some even preferred it because they felt more secure in an online setting. Conclusion: We conclude that a modified online mindfulness stress management program can be effective for individuals who find personal mindfulness practice useful, who do not face a clinical disorder, and do not experience unpredictable extremely stressful events in their personal lives until the practice of mindfulness consolidates. The findings cannot be generalized due to methodological limitations, but they can serve as a compass for further research.
