In the days of rapid technological development, the importance of information awareness is a key to company success. Enterprise Resource Planning is a system that integrates and manages internal as well as external information, drives innovations, helps to adapt to market demands and so yields great competitive advantage. In the beginning we introduced open source solutions and their role in the world of information technology. We continued with history and development of ERP systems and benefits that business can gain. Later on we moved to open source ERP systems. Recently they become quite mature and can be functionally compared to proprietary ERP systems, while still maintaining low cost. In theoretical part we introduced OpenERP system and learned how to develop new modules to add new or change existing workflows or user interfaces. Based on requirements of Koroške pekarne d. d. Company, that we were cooperation with, we made the implementation and analyzed the success of the final solution.

V času tehnološkega razcveta na tržišču uspevajo podjetja, ki se zavedajo pomena informacij. S pomočjo celovitih informacijskih rešitev lahko obvladujejo tako notranje kot zunanje informacije, lažje sledijo trendom, se prilagajajo zahtevam tržišča in si tako pridobijo strateško prednost pred tekmeci. V diplomskem delu smo najprej predstavili odprtokodne rešitve ter njihov pomen v svetu informacijskih rešitev. Predstavili smo razvoj sistemov ERP in njihov vpliv na uspešnost poslovanja. Raziskavo smo razširili na področje odprtokodnih sistemov ERP, ki se v zadnjem času lahko funkcionalno primerjajo s komercialnimi rešitvami in so cenovno primernejša za majhna in srednje velika podjetja. V teoretičnem delu smo se poglobili v odprtokodni sistem OpenERP in se seznanili z izdelavo novih funkcionalnosti. V sodelovanju s podjetjem Koroške pekarne, d. d., smo na podlagi zahtev izvedli implementacijo rešitve ter analizirali uspešno izvedbo.
