Evidencias de algas marinas, vertebrados e invertebrados en los depósitos de las terrazas de abrasión y depósitos fluvioglaciares cuaternarios de la base peruana "Macchu Picchu" en la Antártida

Abstract

En sedimentos de los depósitos Cuaternarios de las terrazas de abrasión y fluvioglaciares de la Base Peruana “Macchu Picchu” en la Antártida se han encontrado especímenes de flora y fauna. La flora está compuesta por algas determinándose catorce especies diferentes, diez son de aspecto herváceo y uno pertenece a la clase Bacillariophyceae, que incluye diatomeas del Orden Centrales, del género Actino cyclus. La fauna lo constituyen vertebrados e invertebrados, la calidad de preservación de los invertebrados ha permitido determinar la presencia de Artnrópod~entre ellos se tienen ejemplares de la Clase Arachnidea y larvas de la Clase lnsecta. También se han encontrado restos de Poríferos que corresponden a espículas de esponjas determinadas como megascleras monoaxonas. Las algas son de ambiente marino, lo mismo que las espículas de esponjas. Los arthnopodos son de ambiente continental pudieron habitar cerca de los cursos de agua o realizar breves visitas a la costa durante las bajas mareas, quedando en consecuencia sus restos mezclados con otros típicamente marinos.
