Metalogenia del uranio en las regiones de Cusco y Puno - [Boletín B 23]

Abstract

El INGEMMET en convenio con Korea Resource Corporation (KORES) y en coordinación con el Instituto Peruano de Energía Nuclear (IPEN), llevó a cabo el estudio de evaluación del potencial del uranio en el sureste del Perú, con la finalidad de determinar el modelo genético de las principales ocurrencias de uranio en las regiones de Puno y Cusco, además de proponer nuevas áreas de exploración con el fin de promover la inversión minera. Para el desarrollo del proyecto, se realizó dos salidas de campo de 25 días cada una, durante las cuales se reconocieron las principales características geológicas de las ocurrencias de uranio, se recopilaron datos radiométricos y se recolectaron muestras para análisis geoquímico de rocas e isótopos. Otra herramienta de investigación, fue el estudio petromineralógico que permitió identificar las diferentes formas de ocurrencia del uranio e identificar los principales minerales de las rocas volcánicas. Presenta el mapa metalogénico uranífero (sureste del Perú) en el que se definen tres franjas potenciales; el cual sirve como una guía base a las empresas de exploración interesadas en encontrar depósitos de uranio.
